I would like to thank Don for going through the excercize of starting this new section.
I beleive it is a wonderful way for us to get better into our cars by sharing information to make our cars better.

Hi Ed, as you probably know, I have always been a believer in the Tri-Years.

Lets face it, I love all the Exner products, but ALL have a distinct place in history.

Love it, or hate it..... the 57 to 59 years of ALL Chrysler products are linked.

I hate it that the 59 Plymouth models are set aside.
100% of the drive train/chassis is shared, and doors/door handles,seats, arm rests etc.
Way more than a Tri-Chevy.

If I am not right, then why did my 1959 PlySoto have a RHD 1957 Dodge Dashboard?????

All Plymouth,PlySoto,Plodge and Dodge from 1957 -1959 used the same dash if they were RHD.

Why do ALL 1960 Plymouth dashes appear in a 1960-61 RHD Dodge?

Have ya seen a 1961 DeSoto Diplomat....I have and it is a '61 Dodge.

Distinct also are the '55-'56 models...... and the '60-'61 models with their unitary bodies etc.

The '62's are still in the Virgil stable, by being plucked versions of the '61 models.

There are 3 differing eras of the Exner years.

55-56....57-59....60-62. All else is Bollocks.

This '58 Savoy four door is very reminiscent of Pete's green Savoy.
It's also half way across the world in Milano Italy.

it looked to me that the red and dark green 59 had 57 hubcaps. But what do i know. I'm still new to all this. help me out if I'm wrong......Charlie Shocked

Hi Charlie.
You are right about the green car, it has got 57 hubcaps.

59 Hubcaps are very similar to 57's but with the edition of 8 flutes that come in from the rim so the red 59 has got the right caps on.

This is made more confusing by the fact some 57 Fury caps looked like 59 caps but with 8 concave gold circles running round the rim.

Take a look at this site. Look toward the bottom and not the '57 Belvedere convertible in purple.
The license plate is New Jersey, but I 've never seen this one in person.

I just noticed my car is a 57-58-59 Plymouth. As you all know it's basically
a 1959 Belvedere with a 1958 front and rear clip and 58 interior...but at least
the instrument cluster is from a 1957 Belvedere (with dots) Laughing

So it's the only known 3-in-one Plymouth! Wink

I'm sorry, not much progress on her during the last two months. I'm still
looking for a few parts and I finally found a shop to recore my leaking
radiator. This will cost about 400EUR. I'm still hoping to get her on the road
again before summer is over...but there's not much time left! Crying or Very sad

Hi Roland,
While the radiator is off, why not ask them to stick an extra row in the rad.

This will aid cooling of the old girl. (and help the trans keep cool as the trans cooler is in the bottom)

I did this on my 59 DeSoto and on the hottest days it never went past a 1/4 on the gauge.

The top tank on the rad is big enough to accommodate an extra row no problem Cool
